The Moscow Marathon is committed to the principles of pure sport and strives to create a healthy and fair competitive environment for its participants.

Since 2017, the Moscow Marathon has been collaborating with the RUSADA Russian Anti-Doping Agency to demonstrate its commitment to fair, safe and doping-free competitions.

Anti-doping rules apply to all participants. Every athlete can be tested after the finish. The standard practice provides for selective testing of sportsmen taking prize places. Anti-doping rules violation will cause disqualification and other consequences established by the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules.

In addition to testing athletes, the Moscow Marathon, together with RUSADA, is working on anti-doping education for amateurs.

Where to Cheer

Due to COVID-19 safety measures we recommend to avoid visiting the start-finish area and to support the runners on the course.

The route of the Moscow Marathon runs through the center of the city. Use the metro, so you can see your runner several times.

Please don’t be shy to encourage passing runners even if you don’t know them personally. We recommend that you keep a distance of 1.5 meters with other people and refrain from direct physical contact, no matter how much you want to give a high five to runners.

Note: some roads access may be restricted. Thanks for understanding.

Road Closures

On Sunday 20th September 2020, the Moscow Marathon will see around 30,000 runners run through the streets of Moscow. In order to host an event of this size, we need to close some roads to allow the runners to move safely around the course and to make it safe for spectators to view the race. We recognise that this can be inconvenient for residents and we are working hard to minimize the disruption for you. The closures will be in place for as short a time as possible, but some people will be affected. To plan your journey, please check the road closures map and schedule.

Charity

Life Line Charity Foundation

The Life Line Charity Foundation has become the charity partner of the Running Community. Now, when registering for our races you can make a donation for this foundation and help children.

The Life Line Charity Foundation provides support to ill children, who suffer from life threatening diseases. This charity funds medical equipment acquisition, high tech surgeries and medical research. Over the past 16 years the Foundation has provided targeted support to more than 11,350 children.

One of Life Line’s work directions is endoprosthesis in the treatment of sarcoma (bone tumors). For a long time it was considered that amputation is the only effective method of treatment of bone cancer. However, at the moment specialized treatment using insertion of high tech prosthesis allows children to keep their limbs and return to normal life. A single endoprosthesis costs Rub 2.5mln — an insurmountable sum of money for the majority of families in Russia. Together we can accumulate necessary funds to save children with bone tumors. Each donation is valuable!
